There are two plaques on this page. The first is an Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque here at the west end of the Medical Sciences Building at 1 King's College Circle on the grounds of the University of Toronto. Here's what it tells us:

Writer, artist, and illustrator of historical novels and textbooks, Charles Jefferys emigrated to Canada from England in 1879. After studying at the Toronto Art Students League, he joined the New York Herald as an illustrator in 1892, but returned to Canada in 1900 to work as a freelance artist for the Globe and the Daily Star. From 1911 to 1939 he taught drawing and painting at the University of Toronto. He painted landscapes and historical subjects across Canada, but is best known for his carefully researched drawings, such as those in his three volume Picture Gallery of Canadian History.

The second plaque, here, on the north-west corner of Mill Street and Campbell Crescent, is an inscription cut into a rock. Here's what it says:

Canadian Artist and Historian. "If my work has stirred any interest in our country and its past, I am more than paid." His drawings, paintings and books illuminate the vast store of Canadian history. This statue was erected in 2000 near his home in the valley where he often worked. Commissioned by the artist's daughter Elizabeth Fee and erected with contributions from the Jeffery's Family and Friends, the North York Historical Society, the York Mills Valley Association and Toronto Culture. Adrienne Alison, BA, B.Sc., A.A.M., Sculptor.
